Oral and IV sedations are provided right in our dental office in West Chester. Oral medication can be taken for shorter treatment appointments. In more involved treatment sessions, Dr. Briglia will use an IV drip so the medication can be administered gradually, in longer intervals.

Root canal therapy has evolved over the past 20 years. New kinds of "novocaine" and better techniques allow for complete numbing of the treatment site. Advances in equipment, instrumentation, and techniques speed the process. The vast majority of cases can now be completed in one appointment (hour to hour and half).

Usually minimal or no bleeding occurs, and most people can return to work immediately if they prefer. Most patients feel little discomfort for a day or two after the procedure, which can usually be relieved with just ibuprofen (Advil), some experience none.

Dr. John Nikas, a Board Certified Periodontist. Together, they provide patients with everything from basic care to advanced restorative and reconstructive dentistry.

If early gum disease is not treated (or gingivitis) may become periodontis. It's a very destructive stage of the disease. Unfortunately, research shows that many Americans over age 40 have some type of gum disease, which is the leading cause of adult tooth loss.

The bacteria develops in the deep pockets of the tissue around the tooth, where membrane and bone hold up teeth and keep all of them in your mouth. It's a painless process, especially initially so it can 'sneak up' on you.  The best defense is maintaining good oral hygiene and visit the dentist office for regular dental care checkups.
